We drove about 260 miles from Elkhorn Campground in Frankfort, Kentucky to Tanbark Campground in Dickson, Tennessee. We left at 9:40 in the morning and drove for about five and a half hours to arrive at about 1:30 in the afternoon (we gained an hour since we drove from the eastern to the central time zone and gained an hour).

Kentucky is a state where horse ranches abound. We saw several beautiful horse ranches along the way. Kentucky is also known for distilled spirits; i.e., bourbon and other forms of whiskey. We also camped right next to a huge Jim Beam distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. We also drove by another Jim Beam distillery on the drive today. We are moving out of the larger mountains of the Appalachians into the more rolling hills of the plains. We are about 150 miles from Memphis and the Mississippi River where we will be camping tomorrow. We will be remaining in the Memphis area for at least four days. We will be going to Graceland and taking a riverboat ride on the Mississippi River. We will also see what else we can do in the area.

Hurricane Delta is hitting the Louisiana coast today and is forecast to travel inland to create extensive rain in the Memphis area starting tomorrow. Our campground is right on the shore of the Mississippi River, so there may be a problem with flooding in the area. We will have to call to find out what it likely to happen there.
