Deerwood RV Park is about 100 miles from Seven Feathers and takes only about 1.5 hours of driving time. The fit into the site was a challenge to my driving skills. With Lisa's help, I managed to park The Beast under some very nice trees. No satellite reception, but the site had cable. Lots of things to do in area.

Salsa dancing - We went dancing twice and enjoyed the variety of people, young and old. Eugene is a college town and is a great mix of urban and rural.

Day trip to Florence on the coast - We took the tandem bike to ride a jetty trail as well as down Rhododendron Drive. When we got there, we found out the Rhododendron Festival was in full bloom, including a home grown parade.

Single Bike Ride - Wayne rode on the "rails to trails" paved path out of Cottage Grove, a town just 14 miles south of the RV park. Glorious ride. Well paved and, after leaving town, you travel along Dorena Lake for about five miles. The path was often completely covered by trees and it was a rainy day; not heavy, but wet. I came up on a Bald Eagle taking a fish away from another raptor. They were about 15 feet from me and they looked fantastic. Made my day! Super smooth roads and very little traffic. The few vehicles that passed me gave me a wide berth. Pretty cool.

Mount Pisgah Arboretum - Best arboretum ever. Lots of trails. River walk, mountain hike. Displays. Light rain.

Cascade Raptor Center - Bald eagles, Golden eagles, Vultures, all sorts of owls. They were well-cared for by the all-volunteer staff.

We also went to Corvalis to look around. Another great small city with lots of little older homes in the downtown core, many with wonderful - you guessed it -- Rhododendrons.
