Monday, October 11, 2021 - We drive to the Eureka Casino in Mesquite, Nevada for a one or two day stay to look around the area. This is a long day for us with a drive of just over six hours. We also had a direct headwind for the last half of the drive. We are also having trouble getting a descent long-term reservation in the Sacramento area, so we are thinking of heading for Arizona to spend a week or two in the warmer weather. There is a front coming through the western United States that is producing very cold temperatures and some snow in the northern latitudes and high altitudes. We decided to avoid this cold weather by heading south.

We checked in with the Casino and they were very nice. We told them that we planned to stay for two days and they were okay with that. We then went into the Casino to have a nice dinner. Today is our 18th anniversary, so it was nice to go out to dinner. I feel so lucky to be able to travel about the country with Lisa. She is such a nice lady.

Tuesday, October 12, 2021 - We take some time to look around this desert community of Mesquite. Many full time RVers will find a place to stay for the winter months and Mesquite is one of those towns. There are several RV parks in the area. We stopped at the local Del Webb Resort to get a pricing sheet. Homes in the 2,000 square foot range have a base price of $390,000. To that you have to add the cost of the lot (usually $10,000 to $30,000 based upon view and location) and the cost of all the options that you would add to the house. There is also a few other expenses to include. The HOA cost is $154 per month. There is also a one-time tax collected by the city for about $3,500. Utilities and property taxes total about $900 per month too. We are just exploring the costs of homes in this region of the country.

We also went for a walk to an area of Mesquite that is quite nice. We met one lady who was sitting in her garage relaxing. She came out to talk to us. It seems that she has lived in Mesquite for about 30 years. She was quite nice and we had a great visit.

Wednesday, October 13, 2021 - This is the day that we drive from Mesquite, Nevada (just north of Las Vegas on I-15) to Quartzite, Arizona. We left a little early (8:00 am), so we arrived in Quartzite at about 3:00pm. We made a decision at that point to continue on down to the Yuma Proving Grounds (YPG), since it was only about 50 minutes farther down the road. We arrived at the YPG at jut after 3:00 pm. We were given the opportunity to pick our site, so we opted for site #50. We got set up quickly and we were ready to explore the Yuma area.
