Thursday, October 7, 2021 - WE drove for two hours to Helper, Utah to the Castle Gate RV Park. We chose this park because it has great facilities for washing clothes, their WiFi is excellent, and they also allow us to wash the RV. This would give us a chance to get caught up on some of our chores that we have ignored since we wanted to spend our times visiting with Bob and Charlotte Capp.

After we arrived, we set up the RV and then I went into "Blog Mode." I sat at the computer for the rest of the day adding the photographs that we had taken over the last two weeks. I also worked to get caught up on the blog posts, since I had written very little about our activities over the previous two weeks. This took me most of the day and I was still not up-to-date with all photos. I had not even began to work on the videos that I want to create. Oh well, I will work them in as I can over the next couple of weeks.

Friday, October 8, 2021 - We started the day by doing our laundry. It was a rainy day, so this was one of the best things that we could do with our time. I also worked more on the blog; primarily the photos and posts. We worked on cleaning the inside of the RV too. This took the better part of the day. In the evening, I watched the first baseball playoff game between the LA Dodgers and the SF Giants. The Giants won.

Saturday, October 9, 2021 - We awoke to a very nice day. Conditions from the previous night's rain storm had cleared up significantly leaving us with a beautiful, clear, chilly day. We decided to pack a lunch and take a drive to the Nine Mile Canyon. This Nine Mile Canyon had been recommended to us on our previous trip too, but we did not have the time then. We decided to take the 165 mile loop that would take us to Duchesne, Utah (50 miles), then on to Myton, Utah (18 miles)where we turn south to the Ten Mile Canyon (about another 25 miles). Once we entered the Nine Mile Canyon, we experienced great views with lots of sheer cliffs and a gravel road that passed through the bottom of the canyon through the drainage pattern. It was spectacular. When we reached Soldier Creek Road, we turned left and drove to the Daddy Canyon Complex. Just before reaching the Daddy Canyon area, we stopped at the Granary Viewing area. The granary is perched high up on the edge of a cliff and was used by the indigenous natives in the area to store their grain. It was hard to see, but it was there. Sort of like the ruins along the cliff at Mesa Verde, but on a very small scale. The first thing that we did when we reach Daddy Canyon was to take a hike up the canyon. We hiked to the end of the trail and then continued up the wash at the bottom of the canyon for another half mile or so. It was a fun hike with great scenery on both sides of the canyon. We also saw lots of erosion geography with layers of rock eroding at differing rates. On this hike, we also saw lots of petroglyphs along the way. It was a fun hike that culminated with a picnic lunch at the entrance to the canyon. We then walked over to the Rasmussen Cave area where we saw a few more petroglyphs in the small overhand-like cave. We then drove up the canyon and onto Cottonwood Canyon Road. On this road, we came upon one of the best petroglyphs that I have ever seen' it is called "The Great Hunt." It is a group of about 20 petroglyphs depicting what looked like a hunt for bighorn sheep. It is pretty spectacular; check out the pictures in the photo gallery. There had also been a pretty big storm a couple days before and the wash that we were driving was strewn with all sorts of wood and debris that had washed down the mountain. We continued up the road for another 12 miles, or so, to check out the great views. We then did a "180" and returned to the Daddy Canyon area. We then drove the road back to Wellington, Utah (50 miles) and on to Price, Utah where we had ice cream at the Dairy Queen in Price. We then returned to the RV where I watched the second game between the LA Dodgers and the SF Giants.

Sunday, October 9, 2021 - We decided that this would be the day to wash the truck and the RV; a big task. But, before we went to work, we went into Helper to have breakfast at a little restaurant that we had stopped by on our previous trip. They provide a great breakfast. After breakfast, we drove to the coin-operated car wash two blocks up the road. We washed the truck and it came out looking great. We then drove back to the RV and began the process of washing it. I started on the nose-cap while Lisa worked on the kitchen area and the rest of the inside. Once the nose-cap and the front of the RV was clean, we began the process of washing the outside. We started washing on the back of the trailer and used the hose, long brush, and many towels to wipe the water off the rig. We washed the entire rig to get the dirt and dust off. We then used a trim chemical to blacken the trim on the pullouts and the lower trim of the rig. I then worked on the back door of the RV which has developed a bad case of oxidization. I used a rubbing compound to clean and restore the color and deep gloss of the original paint and then I add a coat of wax on top of that. Since it takes so long to prep the surface, I only was able to clean about 15 percent of the door. I will have to finish it when I get more time.

It felt very good to have the truck and the RV washed in one day. The temperature was in the 50s and the skies were super clear. It made for an excellent day to wash the rig.

Monday, October 11, 2021 - We got up early to begin our drive to Mesquite, Nevada. This was a six hour day which is longer than most days for us. We got on the road at 8:15am and began the journey. We had heard that we would be running into very high winds in the area of St. George, Utah with winds that could reach 50 mph. These high winds did not materialize, but we did have a 25 mph headwind most of the way to Mesquite. Overall, it was a very nice drive.
