We drove to Yakima Washington from Anacortes, Washington. We left at 9:30 and arrive around 3:00 in the afternoon. The drive was a little hectic as we drove through Bellvue, Washington and there was considerable traffic. As we left the Seattle metro area, we began the climb to the Snoqualmie Pass. Even though it is only 3200 feet in elevation, it is quite a climb and there is a snow skiing resort at the top. We had lunch at the summit. As we began to decend, we noted that the trees were beginning to thin out and a more "desert-like" terrain was encountered. We stopped at a vista point just past Ellensburg, Washington and the Yakima Valley was quite beautiful.

Just before we left, I did a search for "Salsa dancing" in Yakima. Turned out that there was a Friday night Salsa dance held at a church that had be converted to a Performing Arts Center. It was old, quaint, and the people were very friendly. We go there for the lesson at 9:00. the lesson began around 9:30 and ended at 10:00. We danced until just before midnight and then went back to our RV. For you rueda dancers; here were a few people who knew some rueda , but all we did was dame, enchufla, enchufla doble, cero, and adios y coca cola. I think that they would have loved to have a rueda lesson taught, but we were on the road to Walla Walla the next morning.

The Yakima Sportsman State Park was easy to get into and worked well for our RV. Unfortunately, we only stayed at this park for one day as we were transiting to Walla Walla. We have some friends in Walla Walla and we hope to get together with them this week. Bill is Charlotte Capp's brother and Gina is his wife. The are great people who have gone scuba diving with us in the past.
