Sunday, July 31, 2022 - Wayne and Lisa drive with Bob and Charlotte Capp to Cantwell, Alaska (near Denali National Park) in four hours. The weather was rainy and we did encounter some fog on the drive. The temperature was between 55 and 60 degrees Fahrenheit. We left Palmer, Alaska at about 9:30 am and arrived near 2:00 pm. After setting up the RV, we took a short drive on the old Denali Highway towards Paxton. The road turns to dirt and we turned around at about the ten mile point. After that, we returned to the RV to rest.

Monday, August 1, 2022 - We are into August now and the high temperature today in Cantwell was 53 degrees. It felt a little chilly, but there was not too much wind. This temp is 50 degrees colder that the high temperature in Dallas, Texas today of 104 degrees. We kind of like the cooler temps.

Today we drove to Denali National Park to show Bob and Charlotte the park and to take a hike along the Savage River. It was overcast, but not raining. We hiked the two mile trail along the river out to the bridge and back. It was a very pleasant hike. We did not see Mt. Denali at any time today due to the overcast skies. We go back tomorrow and hope that the skies may clear and we can catch a glimpse of the "Lady." After the hike, we drove back to the Visitor Center and "checked it out." It is a very nice center and displays a lot about the region and animals found there. After the Visitor Center, we walked over to the snack bar and had a very nice lunch; a combination picnic and purchases from the snack bar (fries and coffee and hot chocolate). We then drove back to the RV where Wayne, Lisa, and Charlotte did another 2.5 mile hike while Bob studied (the inside of his eyelids!). This was a very nice day.
