On Monday, August 30, we drove for three hours from Walla Walla, Washington to the Lake Wallowa State Park near Joseph, Oregon. The drive was beautiful with excellent roads and virtually no traffic. The campsite for our first two days was a drive-through that worked out quite well for us. We had to register for two separate campsites due to the high number of registrations prior to the Labor Day Weekend. It turned out that the second site that we had planned to use was inaccessable for a rig our size, so we decided to go to the town of Joseph for the last two days of our stay. This worked out very well since we had a huge open area in which to "boondock" with only one other camper there.

On Monday afternoon, we rode our bicycles around the state park, near the marina/boat ramp, and up the road to the gondola ride. There is not too much in the way of paved riding road at the south end of the lake so we ended up riding back to the RV. I then went to the effort of taking the kayaks out of the RV and attaching them to the truck with our Thule racks so that we could go kayaking the next morning. The temperature was supposed to be at 39 degrees at 8:00am, so we decided to wait until a little later to go on our kayak ride.

Tuesday, August 31, 2021 - We got up, had breakfast, and then headed for the boat ramp to launch our kayaks into Lake Wallowa. We did launch and went for a fairly long ride. By waiting until the temperatures warmed up a little, we also found that the wind came up a little too, so the water was getting a little choppy. We had a nice kayak ride and then put the kayaks back on the truck. We then drove into the town of Joseph to walk around the streets. We came across the only Mexican food restaurant in town, so we decided to give it a try. The food was pretty good and we were famished. After the mid-afternoon meal, we went back to the RV to relax enjoy the camping among the pine trees. During the evening, we watched the movie, "Avatar,." for the third time. It is such a great movie.

We also prepped the RV for the drive on the next morning to Joseph to camp at their City RV Park.

Wednesday, September 1, 2021 - We drove from the state park to the city park in joseph.
