Well, here we are again. It sure seems like a long time since I made my last blog entry. We have been at Beale AFB near Marysville, CA for over five months now while we visited friends and family and Lisa had some surgery on her right shoulder. This has been the longest that we have stayed in one place over the last two years. Needless to say, we are ready to get back on the road. We leave on May 1st on our way to Texas.

For the last ten months, or so, we have been operating under the premise that Lisa had a torn rotator cuff injury that would need surgery and then months of rehab. She got a cortisone shot in Warsaw, Indiana last September and we have been working our way back to California so that she could see a doctor here. As it turns out, she did not have a tear. The doctor called it "frozen shoulder." Under anesthetics, he moved the arm in all directions and broke free any scar tissue so that her arm would move freely again. The medical team then went in and cleaned out what debris they could. She now has to get the muscles built up so that they can again do what they are supposed to do. She has been in rehab for about six weeks and the results are amazing. She can move her arm again. We went for a kayak ride the other day at Folsom Lake and she did great. We feel that she can dance now too. We have not danced for about ten months, so this is great news. Also, the doctor cleared us for traveling, so we are on the road again.

We have now both received our two COVID vaccine shots, so we are feeling much better about mixing with other people. Last year, we were able to travel quite easily even though COVID closed many visitor centers and attractions. We were still able to see much of the country. We are looking forward to "herd immunity" and the country getting back to normal. In most states that we have visited over the last year, masks were not worn outside and were worn inside out of courtesy to others. Hopefully, we will soon be free of these "face diapers."

Here we are on the morning of Saturday, May 1st and we are leaving Beale AFB for the incredibly long (30 miles) trip to the Thunder Valley Casino in Rocklin; the first stage of our journey.
