Tuesday, June 8, 2021 - We drove to Wylie, Texas from Abilene in about four and a half hours. We decided to travel to the north and then east on Highway 380. This worked out quite well and we saw some great country. When we arrived, we found that the temperature was about 90 degrees and the humidity was pretty high too. Quite muggy. Also, Dallas had had the same heavy rains that we had in Abilene, so there were lots of pools of water around our camping site. Luckily, we did not have large pools were we backed in the RV. Some campsites were nothing but water, so we lucked out. We ended up taking a walk around the camping area and then stayed at the RV for the remainder of the day.

Wednesday, June 9, 2021 - We started the day by doing something that we had not done for several years; we went to a Waffle House for breakfast. I just wanted some waffles. We don't have a waffle iron with us since we are so limited on storage space. The food was "okay," but nothing to call home about (which is sort of what I am doing right here??) We then went shopping. Drove to Garland, Texas to a Winco food store. We bought our groceries and then returned to the RV.

Next was a 45 minutes drive to Dallas, Texas and Terry Black's BBQ for a late lunch. Bob and Charlotte Capp have purchase a home in Wylie, so we went to meet them at Terry Black's. The Capp's son, Aaron, flew out to help Bob and Charlotte move the personal property into their new home. The Capp's drove to the airport to pick up Aaron and then drove straight to Terry Black's for lunch. They also had Bob and Charlotte's daughter, Heidi, with them too; so, their entire nuclear family was together. We will be helping them tomorrow also. The BBQ lunch was great, as always. We then drove back to Wylie, Texas to see the Capp's new home. It is a beautiful home in a very nice area with lots of services close by. We then hit the swimming pool in the back yard for a nice dip. Bob, Charlotte, Aaron, and the Capp's granddaughter, Mikayla, will be traveling to Cozumel, Mexico in about ten days for a dive vacation; we are jealous. After swimming and visiting, we drove with Heidi to the location of the new home that she and her husband, Kent, are having built. It is located in a nice, quiet area about three miles from Bob and Charlotte's home. The foundation has been started, but the rains have washed out the work for the past week. Heidi and Kent are super-excited about moving into their new home.

Thursday, June 10, 2021 - We decided to do a little shopping today and headed of to Nebraska Furniture Mart and Sheel's Sporting Goods. Nebraska Furniture Mart is a huge store that initially opened in Omaha, Nebraska. I went to NFM several times in the early 1980s when I was stationed at Strategic Air Command Headquarters in Omaha. The store was well-known for being the largest in the area. It was run by a woman in a wheelchair referred to as Mrs. B. She would often travel the aisles in her motorized wheelchair and talk to the customers. She would often give customers super-good deals on furniture much to the chagrin of the sales- people on the floor. It seems that the store was sold to Warren Buffett of Omaha who has opened a couple more stores one of which is here in the Dallas area.

We then drove the quarter mile distance to Sheel's Sporting Goods. This, too, is a huge store. Inside the entrance we were greeted by a large saltwater aquarium with lots of fish that we have seen on our dive trips to the Carribbean. It, truly, is a magnificent aquarium. Just beyond the aquarium, we found a 70-foot high Ferris wheel. We immediately took a ride on the Ferris wheel that tended to make Lisa, who is afraid of heights, a little nervous. We then went shopping in the store and bought several thing that we needed. It was a lot of fun and took a lot longer than we had planned.

We then drove back to our RV with a short stop at a Walmart along the way.

Friday, June 11, 2021 - We travel to Bob Capp's new home to help move furniture into their home. The Pods that they used to transport their household items have arrived and we will need to move all into the home.
