Tuesday, July 27, 2021 -We traveled to Buffalo, Wyoming for a one-night stay as we travel to the Seeley Lake area of Montana near Missoula. The drive took three hours and was uneventful. Nice pull-through into our parking space at Indian Campground RV Park in Buffalo.

We went downtown to walk around the town and see what the town was like. It is a very nice town with a very old hotel called the Occidental Hotel that has a tremendous history with people of the west like Calamity Jane, Wyatt Earp, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and many more. They all stayed at this hotel at some time.

We decided to take a drive along a scenic road to the historic town of Ten Sleep. This town is about 60 miles due west of Buffalo on the way to Yellowstone. The road goes high up into the mountains that are very scenic. Ten Sleeps only has 260 people in the town. It has some places to eat, get ice cream, and shop. The town got its name from the Indians of the area because it was a rest stop for them at the junction of the Nowood and Ten Sleep creeks. It was ten days travel from Fort Laramie, ten days travel from Yellowstone, and ten days travel from the Indian Agency in Stillwater, Montana. Ten days equates to "ten sleeps" or days on the trail. We had some ice cream and then drove back to Buffalo.

We had planned to have a very nice, formal dinner at the Occidental Hotel Dining Room, but upon arrival, we found that the restaurant closes on Monday and Tuesday nights. We settled on eating in the bar of the hotel. Turned out that the food was excellent and very tasty. A very nice steak dinner for both of us.
