August 12, 2020 - We drove from Bellevue, Ohio to Niagara Falls, New York. We left at 9:00 am and arrived at Niagara Falls at about 3:00 pm. Most of the drive was on Interstate 80 and then Interstate 90. Part of I-80 is a toll-road (Ohio Turnpike), so it cost us about $9.25 to travel about 50 miles. On I-90, we paid $14.75 to travel about 80 miles. It was all freeways and some sections had maintenance going on. The traffic was not very heavy and the trip was rather uneventful. The only drawback is that you do not get to see much of the country when on freeways with trees on both sides. Traveling the back roads is more fun, but not quite as fast. We did drive just to the south of Toledo and then right through Cleveland. We went right by the Progressive Stadium where the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians play their games. Luckily, there was not much traffic near the stadium.

Thursday, August 13, 2020 - Our trip to Niagara Falls State Park. Niagara Falls State Park is a "must-see" venue for all people. We had an absolutely beautiful day and the attendance at the park was not too high due to the Corona virus. We arrived at about 9:30 and were able to park in the lot closest to the Maid of the Mist venue. This was the very first thing that we did; take the boat ride on the Maid of the Mist. This venue starts with an elevator descent of about 200 feet to the level of the water. Sure was nice not to have to hike up and down to the water. Before we descended, we had an excellent view of the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. Be sure to see the photo gallery and the video associated with this visit. A picture is worth a thousand words and a video is work a hundred thousand words. We were given blue rain "panchos" before we go on the Maid of the Mist boat. They worked quite well in protecting our 35mm camera while I used our GoPro camera to take videos. The GoPro is waterproof down to 30 feet, so the water was not a problem for it. The Mid of the Mist traveled right past the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls on its way to Horseshoe Falls. The American Falls has massive rocks at the bottom of the falls and the mist floats high into the sky; well above the top of the falls. The noise is ever-present too. On the video, I reduced the level of noise from the falls so that you can hear the narration. At Horseshoe Falls, the Maid of the Mist sailed right up to the very edge of the falls in the center of the horseshoe. The sound was amazing and the turbulence of the water was something to see. The beautiful blue water was churning and rushing past us. The visibility was cut way down as the mist of water completely covered the boat. We stayed in the channel in the middle of the river for about eight minutes, but it seemed much longer. It is quite and experience and really makes you appreciate the power of Mother Nature. We then exited the falls and headed back to our launch point. After departing the Maid of the Mist area, we rode the elevator back to top level of the falls and began our hike to see the falls from the top at several areas. The other side of the river is Canada and we were not allowed to go there. There are numerous "high-rise" hotels there and an amusement park. They also had a trolley system taking Canadians down to the river level where they boarded boats similar to Maid of the Mist, but operating under the name of "Hornblower." After exploring the falls from the top-side of the rim, we journeyed down to what is called "Cave of the Wind." In the past, it was possible to walk under the "over-flowing" water of the falls for a really unique experience. There was ledge to walk along, but this ledge is no longer there. What they have now is a set of stairs that take you down to the level of the water where the water is cascading into the river. You then climb the steps alongside the flowing water until you are the upper platform where you can stand under the cascading water and it flows all over you. (See the video) It would almost knock Lisa down. It was a lot of fun and makes you really appreciate the power of the water going over the falls. This last part is called, "Hurricane of the Winds." It was pretty amazing. After experiencing the Hurricane of the Winds, we walked over to the elevator that took us back to the level of the top of the falls. Lisa and I both believe that everyone should make plans to visit Niagara Falls during their lifetime. It is truly awesome and magnificent. We then hiked back to our truck and were ready to take a break. We drove to a Wendy's Restaurant for a "linner." This is Lisa's term for a combination lunch and dinner. After that it was back to our RV for some rest.

On Friday, August 14, 2020, we drove down to the edge of the Niagara River for a tandem ride along the river. We ended up riding for about 20 miles, which is pretty short for us. We think were were still tired from the "over-stimulation" of our trip to Niagara Falls. When we got back to the truck, we pulled out our two "gravity chairs" and set them up by the water. With the cool breeze off the water, I managed to engage in a short nap. Life is good.

On Saturday, August 15, 2020, we left the Niagara Falls area and began the journey back to Shipshewana, Indiana by way of the Gotta Getaway Campground in Bellevue, Ohio. The six hour drive was uneventful and we arrive at about 2:00 in the afternoon. We parked in overflow, which was east get into and out of.
