We drove for four hours from Texarkana, Arkansas to Frisco, Texas (near Dallas). The drive was under overcast skies and with some rain. The last part of the drive was on major freeways in the north Dallas area. We sure enjoy driving on rural roads as opposed to these massive freeways with lots of "race cars."

We plan to survey the Dallas area to see if it is a place that we might consider living. As of now, it seems way to crowded here. We will see. There are lots of new homes being built, but we are not sure that we like the type of construction. We will have to look at prices too. Should be fun.

Friday, September 17, 2020 - We decided to take a drive to Denton, Texas to check out houses in the area. There are tons of new subdivisions in the Denton areas. We looked a some nice established homes and then drove to Robeson Ranch, a master planned community for older (40 and above without kids) residents. We walked though their models and saw several that would work well for us. We have visited a Robeson housing project before and knew that the quality of the construction was super. We found out that it would take about a year to get a home in this project with all the planning and construction necessary. We are not super interested in the north Dallas area right now. It is so big with so many subdivisions everywhere. It is growing like "gang-busters." The Dallas/Fort Worth area is huge. Freeways and major roads everywhere. It would take some getting used to, to live in this area.

We sent a text to Heidi and Kent Anderson. Heidi and Kent have just moved from southern California to north Dallas due to Kent's new job as an arts teacher in the Dallas area schools. Kent is a master of photography, but he is also teaching visual arts to 5th grade, middle school, and high school students. Talk about being versatile! Really a challenge to plan the curriculum for three different grade levels. We went out to dinner at Terry Black's BBQ in Dallas. This is one of the best BBQ restaurants in Texas. The food was great and the conversation was great. Heidi and Kent gave us lots of ideas on potential living areas in North Dallas. We sent lots of photos of our food to Bob Capp back in California so that he could "eat his heart out" wishing he were there with us. He and Charlotte are considering moving to the north Dallas area if "all the stars align properly."

Saturday, September 18, 2020 - The next day I called a bicycle shop that sells Trek E-Bikes and found the exact model and size of an E-Bike I have been looking at for Lisa. We went to the store and Lisa took the bike out for a ride. After her ride, we decided to go ahead and buy the bike. E-Bikes are a lot of fun and Lisa can easily keep up with me when I ride my racing road bike and she rides the E-Bike. We are in the process of finding the best ways to transport this new bike. It weighs about 50 pounds and has a different system to hold the front wheel to the fork. This makes it harder to remove the front wheel for transport. We will figure it out though.

Sunday, September 19, 2020 - We went for a ten-mile ride and Lisa did a great job getting used to the new bike. It is always a chore getting used to the shifting, breaking, and power management of a new bike. If we ever get back to some hill country, she is going to kick my butt with this new bike (but it will still be fun!).
