Friday, September 18, 2020 - We drove for five hours and 247 miles to Harpursville, New York and Belden Hill Campground. The campground is very nice and we wish we could stay for longer. We are only doing an "overnight" here. The days started out kind of foggy and dreary and by 1:00 pm the skies turned bright blue and clear. We could see the beginning of the changes of color in the trees as we drove along. Our temperature at mid-afternoon was 63 degrees and the overnight temp is supposed to go down to 37 degrees.

Upon arrival at Belden Hill, I decided to take a single bicycle ride while Lisa would go for a long walk. The day was clear and cool and some of the trees were beginning to change color and looked beautiful. The wind was blowing pretty hard, so I decided to start the ride into the wind to make the return trip a little easier. I decided to turn right coming out of the RV park, but kind of figured the wind wrong. I was going into the wind for about a mile and then it changes directions at about the same time that I began a five mile descent that I was not aware of. I went for it anyway and rode the downhill with some wind pushing be from behind. After about eleven miles, I turned around and began the trip back with some grades many maxing out at eight percent. To my surprise, I was able to make the climbs without too much difficulty; even into the wind. I met Lisa just before returning to the RV park, so I "escorted" her for this portion of her walk; she got 4.5 miles. In many places the trees were beautiful and the flowers along the road were gorgeous. The yellows were huge fields of golden rod and then there were other purple flowers mixed in that I do not know their name.
